Multi-award-winning actor and star of HBO’s Succession, Brian Cox CBE, will return as Grand Marshal of the New York City Tartan Day Parade for the event’s 22nd year, taking place on Saturday 4th April.

The Dundee-born actor, whose work in film, television and theater over the past 40 years has made him a household name on both sides of the pond, will lead this year’s procession.

It’s the first time since NYC Tartan Day Parade moved to Manhattan’s iconic Sixth Avenue that a previous Grand Marshal has been asked to reprise their role. Cox originally led the parade in 2012.

The exciting news comes soon after Cox triumphed at this year’s Golden Globes Awards – bagging ‘Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Drama’ for his main role in award-winning TV show, Succession.

His performance as Logan Roy sees him lead one of the biggest media and entertainment companies in the world. Now, as Grand Marsal, he’ll be leading 3,000 participants of the NYC Tartan Day Parade, with solo pipers, drummers, full pipe bands, highland dancers, Scottish clans and the ever-popular Scottish dogs, in tow.

Brian Cox, Grand Marshal of the 2020 New York City Tartan Day Parade, said: “I’m honoured to be returning to my role of a lifetime – Grand Marshal of the New York City Tartan Day Parade. America holds a dear place in my heart, and to be able to celebrate my heritage and homeland of Scotland along with thousands of New Yorkers is a feeling unlike any other.”
